MUNE

May zipped by and I forgot about the newsletter until about May 29th. By that time, I had been without air conditioning for a week and I was running less than 25% of normal speed. (As I type, I am STILL without air conditioning.) Priority ONE has become comfort, which I get less and less of each day the air is not working.

For the first time in ten years, I decided to combine two months into one newsletter.

And that's all I have to say about that!

WRINKLES, AGE & SISTERS

I was talking to my sister, Tricia, a college professor who lives in Woodstock, GA, the other day. It was her birthday and so, of course, age was the primary topic of conversation. Tricia is four years younger and more than a few pounds lighter than me. When she is not teaching, she spends many hours working on her yard, her neighbors' yards, and the common areas in her development. I spend many hours sitting in front of a computer screen.

Trish inherited our mother's body frame (petite) and body type - the type which quickly turns all kinds of food into high octane fuel (think Back to the Future Part II, in which the flux capacitor uses garbage as its only fuel.) I inherited the "strong like bull", "here, I'll lift that 200 pound package for you", "wow, you give strong hugs" German body frame, which reroutes every morsel of food - even really healthy stuff - to one of the numerous storage areas in my body.

Trish was telling me how one of her students told her how young she looked for her age and asked , "How do you stay so trim?." (Duh! Trish is on the go from dawn to dusk. I wonder how many calories she burns in a day?) Then we talked a bit about aching joints and sagging body parts. However, our conversation took a decided turn for the worse when Trish brought up the topic of wrinkles.

"Do you have many?", she asked me.

I said, "Not really."

"How do you manage that?" she asked.

My response, "The [one] positive aspect of having a few extra pound is that it fills out the wrinkles."

With that tidbit of information, we both agreed that, should I reach my goal of releasing ten or more pounds, the number of pounds lost will be directly proportional to the number of years OLDER I will look.

How's THAT for a dilemma?

Marilyn and Lexi - 2010PHOTO OP

Did you see the photo of me with Lexi (I'm the one sitting in the chair) in The Area Guide Monthly published by the Bucks County Herald? The Herald changed the format to a monthly publication and added it as an insert to its weekly paper the beginning of each month. The Area Guide Monthly features local artists, businesses, and events. The very last page is called "The Salon" and was created by Susan Sandor. She chose me as her first "victim" in the May issue. The June issue features Bruce Gangawer. Pick up a copy.
