FORGIVE AND LET GO

Last month, after I sent out my newsletter talking about my frustration with litterbugs, I got responses from a couple of my faithful readers. One woman let me know that there is a number to call if you see someone littering (888-LITTERBUG) Thank you Linda G!

A couple of people who had enjoyed my guilt ridden description of throwing an apple core out my car window also sent me emails. One of those folks was a friend whom I have not seen or spoken to in about two years! Well, I am so glad she emailed me. We met for lunch last week and caught up on each others' lives.

We talked about a lot of things - but the one thing that struck home was when she told me about her going to her 40th high school reunion and running into an old flame. She had always considered him someone very special but she hadn't thought he felt the same way. Only to find out that, yes, indeed, he HAD felt that way about her too. Funny when that happens.

I had something similar happen to me a few years back but in reverse. I had been searching the internet for years trying to find an old friend from junior high school. I considered her one of best friends. Well, finally, I tracked her down and called her. I was looking for a warm welcome. Duh! She didn't even remember me!!!

Isn't it funny how we hold on to things for years and years - maybe a guilt about something we did against someone else, an angry word, a broken trust, memories that we are so darned SURE are accurate, and then to find out that the other party felt entirely the opposite. I say, let's let GO of the guilt, shame, and regrets we are holding on to. It is finally time!!!

Free at last!

SPAM- A LOT!

Do you get lots and lots of spam? I sure do, although I think I have it whittled down to about 100 or so a day. It used to be almost 1,000 a day!

I have spoken to some tech folks and searched the internet for information on how to get rid of spam only to find out that it is actually better if you can avoid it in the first place by not putting your email out on the web and by not using chat rooms. The bad news for anyone with a website or blog whose email address is readily available,- you will get spam. Spammers have ways to gain access to all public emails. I used to have 3 different domain names, now I just have one email address plus the free monthly drawing which has its own email and also gathers spam. I have a server based spam block for my primary email. This has cut waaay down on spam and I am very happy about it.

Spam blockers can be server based (the spam is blocked before it gets to your computer) or computer based (the spam goes to a spam folder on your computer.) Talk to your Internet Service Provider or hosting provider for more information. Either way, you run the risk of blocking "good" email. You should always check the spam before permanently deleting it just in case a "good" email is in there.

Wouldn't it be nice if the spammers utilized their genius for good things in this world instead of clogging up the internet?
